Holy Show
The Holy Show identity.
I took my cue from the typography of Neville Brody and played around with the fonts blurring the title out to give it a distressed look. I liked the way it broke some of the letters into pieces giving it a cattle brand effect.
I added a glow to the 'Holy' part of the title with an emphasis on the 'o' as a sort of halo. The halo element I used throughout the catalogue and posters.I used a rich purple as the lead colour for all the materials with the 'Show' part of the logo in a strong red.
The logo elements I designed using Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw and Photoshop to create the effects and tweak the images. The catalogue for the show ran to a hundred and thirty odd pages so I used QuarkXPress for the layout.
Holy Show
I was commissioned by the Arts Council to design The Holy Show identity for the Chester Beatty Library. The library had approached a selection of Irelands leading artists and asked them to produce an original piece in response to the Christian Old Testament or Hebrew Bible. The results were to be exhibited at the library.
I designed the logo, the exhibition catalogue, the signage, the magazine adverts and marketing pieces and I oversaw the printing of all the pieces for the exhibition.
As there was going to be a lot of imagery around the show I decided from the start that I would develop a graphic element and use it across all the various pieces.
The exhibition ran for almost a year at the library and was so successful that it went on tour to several European cities and Canada.
